The first thing to tell you is that Gladys and I believe in angels. There was always something enchanting about that belief and all the wonderful stories we have heard about angels helping people in dire need.
15 years ago, this December 23rd, my daughter had her baby taken by c-section because of a multitude of health issues as she was crashing and burning in her hospital bed. The baby, let’s call him Connor, was 1 pound 15 ounces. I’ve used musky baits bigger than my grandson. The battle was on. Would Connor win the battle for his life or would he perish? If he lived would he be fraught with maladies and if this poor little guy passed, how could we all deal with that.
Our best friends (let’s call them Rich and Jenna) sent this ceramic little angel for us to cling to during this most difficult time. One day was good and the next would go backwards. It labored on and on for 107 nervous days in the NICU. My daughter and her husband were steadfast in there hope and care for this little man named Connor. The rest of us visited and cared and did whatever as best we could. In Connors mini area there was a bookshelf with reading materials and a wooden rocking chair. There was this 3-inch-thick book about premature babies and we all refused to find out how many ways this whole deal could go South. Instead, we wished for good days and finally there were more good days than bad. Later we could worry about all the possible side effects and deficiencies for being born 3 months early.
That ceramic angel whom I will name Jenna the Angel has hung on a little pin in our home for all this time. She has looked after Connor for 15 years and he has flourished. No glitches in the software as yet. A kind young man with skills and a world of potential ahead of him.
Gladys and I thank our Jenna the Angel for her supervision. This world is just a better place when angels are around.
