Mother’s Day 2023
We’ve been married for just about 47 years. And in all those years Gladys never put herself first at any time or anywhere. Our children, Ruby and Remington are the luckiest kids this side of the Ukraine. I am so thankful that she lets me be me. Only a women can be a mother. Only a women can be a grandmother. Gladys’s computer chip is programmed different than mine. My chip is built for black and white and hers is 1080 HD. She is relentless in the pursuit of family wellness and assistance. She can go to work out, do the laundry, bake cookies, clean the house, be funny, and bring a bit of soft light into a darkness. People are drawn to her and we all laugh as she strikes up a conversation at a grocery store or anywhere really. In our house she got the entire brunt of the household. The Picasso of wife and mom. As you know, it is a massive undertaking and never has she complained about any of it. If they offered a Doctorate in Household, she would have been a Harvard graduate. Have a wonderful day Gladys, you have earned it.
I really can’t just leave this as it is. This is a great story. Several years ago, Gladys and I met my mom, who lives in California, for lunch at a Mexican place while she was in for a visit. Sometime during the lunch, she told me she never liked me because I was dad’s favorite. She was not a fan of my father. After I got over the warm and fuzzy feelings that were coursing through my soul, I paid the bill.
